CPU Deal: Ryzen 7 2700 Hits Lowest-Ever Price of $220
AMD Ryzen 7 2700 is one of the best value processors out there in the market. Part of the current Ryzen 2000 series, this octa-core chip from the red team is based on their 12nm Zen+ architecture and offers a decent performance in both gaming and application workloads.
Originally priced at $299, the Ryzen 7 2700 is now selling for $220 on Amazon, which is its lowest price ever. Such a good deal is hard to pass up, so if you are interested, I would advise you to grab it fast while you can because the stock is limited and can sell out at any time.
The Ryzen 7 2700 carries eight cores and 16 threads running at a 3.2GHz base clock. The processor can, however, boost up to 4.1GHz, thanks to the advanced Precision Boost 2 and Extended Frequency Range 2 (XFR2) features. It also features an unlocked multiplier that allows you to overclock the chip beyond AMD’s specification.
The 2700 packs 16MB of L3 cache and draws a mere 65 watts of power. Additionally, the chip comes bundled with the capable Wraith Spire LED cooler, which is an above-average solution when it comes to stock coolers.
In terms of performance, the Ryzen 7 2700 is a few percent slower than the Intel Core i7-8700K in games, but the latter sets you back $380 which is nearly 42% more. At its discounted price, the 2700 offers a great, if not the best, price per performance for an eight-core chip, with its each core only costing you around $27.50.
We’re hoping to see price cuts across the entire range of Zen+ CPUs as AMD prepares for the release of its 3rd-generation Ryzen family of processors. Based on the 7nm Zen 2 architecture, the Ryzen 3000 series will feature up to 16 cores, faster clock speeds and PCIe 4.0.
With that said, the next-gen Ryzen processors will also cost a bit of a price premium. If you are professional who is looking for a high-end CPU upgrade for gaming, it is worth waiting for the Ryzen 3000 series CPUs. But for most people, buying discounted parts could be the way to go.
