The Cut-down AMD Radeon RX 560D Expands to Europe

The Cut-down Radeon RX 560D coming to Europe

The cut-down Radeon RX 560D enters the European retail market without having been marketed by the manufacturer. Sapphire is offering different variants of the RX 560 in Germany, including the one with fewer shader cores. Originally, the graphics card was intended to be aimed solely at the Chinese market.

There was only one version of the RX 560 when it launched back in June. The card was based on the Polaris 21 XL GPU featuring 16 Compute Units for a total of 1,024 shader cores. That was the main difference compared to the Radeon RX 460 using the smaller Polaris 11 chip.

Rumors about the Radeon RX 560D emerged in July. The card features 896 shaders instead of 1,024, so just as many as RX 460. At the time, it was reported that AMD still had a relatively high volume of RX 460 cards in inventory, so it decided to rebrand these GPUs as Radeon RX 560D cards with a simple BIOS modification.

After being released by XFX in China, Sapphire is now bringing this cut-down RX 560D to the German retail sector. The card isn’t labeled as the ‘D’ model, but specs and price comparison reveal the fact.

Sapphire Radeon RX 560D listing

Sapphire lists only two different versions of the Radeon RX 560 4GB Pluse on its website. Model 11267-00 corresponds to 1,024 shader cores with up to 1300 MHz clock speed, whereas the other model 11267-18 has 896 shaders and 1226 MHz boost clock.

There is a price difference of around 20 euros between the two models. In terms of performance, the RX 560D is around ten percent slower than the original card in Full HD. Previous reports state that the card requires only 50% of the RX 560 total power consumption, which would make it a good choice for miners.
