AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 and RX Vega 56 Specs, Performance and Prices Detailed
After months of speculation, AMD has finally unveiled its Radeon RX Vega graphics cards. According to the official presentation, the high-end Vega gaming series comprises of two models, the RX Vega 64 and RX Vega 56. Below are the specifications, performance and prices of these cards.
AMD RX Vega 64 Air and Liquid Cooled Cards Announced – Flagship Model Costs $699
The Radeon RX Vega 64 lineup utilizes the full Vega 10 GPU. It will be available in Air, Liquid and reference models. As the name implies, the card features 64 NCUs (next-gen compute units), 4096 stream processors and 256 TMUs. It packs 8GB of HBM2 VRAM with a total rated bandwidth of 484 GB/s.
The RX Vega 64 runs at 1247MHz base clock and 1546 boost clock, with 12.66 TFLOPS of compute performance. The card features a TDP of 295W. It carries an affordable price of $499.
The Liquid Cooled Edition has higher clock speeds at 1406MHz base and 1677MHz boost clock. The floating point performance also increases up to 13.7 TFLOPS. Furthermore, the card will also require a beefy power supply of 345W. The RX Vega 64 Liquid retails for $699.

AMD will ship the RX Vega 64 with the new Radeon Pack promotion. These include:
- Radeon Black Pack with RX Vega 64 Air Cooled for $599
- Radeon AquaPack with RX Vega 64 Liquid Cooled for $699
The Radeon Black pack grants you two free games (Wolfenstein II and Prey 2) and a $100 US discount on a Ryzen 7 CPU. The top-end Radeon Aqua pack offers you the above plus a $200 discount on a Samsung ultra-wide Freesync monitor for just $699.
AMD RX Vega 64 Limited Edition with More Elegant Cooler
AMD also offers a special RX Vega 64 Limited Edition of both Air and Liquid Cooled models. It features a brushed aluminum shroud and an illuminated Radeon “R” square in the corner, similar to the Radeon Vega Frontier Edition. Functionally, there is no difference than the reference card, be it the PCB or clock speeds.
The company will ship the Limited Edition to initial buyers until they run out. The model will be sold at slightly higher prices than the reference edition.
AMD RX Vega 64 Performance Figures: Rivals the Nvidia GTX 1080
AMD didn’t showcase the full performance benchmarks of the RX Vega 64 series cards, but it did conduct some tests before the launch event. These results were mostly on par with Nvidia’s reference GTX 1080.
The AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 hit from between 53 fps to 76 fps in a range of games being played on an ultra-wide angle 3440×1440 monitor. The GTX 1080 achieved a max frame rate of 78 fps, but the minimum frame rate dipped a little lower to 45 fps.

Although the Radeon RX Vega 64 appears to only compete with an Nvidia GPU that arrived some 14 months ago, AMD is calling their graphics solution as a more smoother option for the same price. The officials also said that the Vega 64 was able to achieve over 60 fps in more than 100 games played at 4K resolution.
AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 – The Cut-down Vega Costs $399
Finally, we have the Radeon RX Vega 56 which is based on the cut down Vega 10 GPU. The chip features 56 compute units and 3548 stream processors that are clocked at 1156 MHz base and 1471 MHz boost.
The RX Vega 56 comes with an 8GB of HBM2 VRAM which will deliver a rated bandwidth of 410 GB/s across a 2048-bit bus interface. The card features a total compute performance of 10.5 TFLOPs. It is rated at a TDP of 210W with power provided through an 8 and 6 pin connectors.
In terms of performance, AMD hinted the Radeon RX Vega 56 would go toe-to-toe with the GeForce GTX 1070. The RX Vega 56 will be available in air cooled versions only, priced at $399. AMD has also announced a Radeon Red Pack with RX Vega 56. The pack costs $499 and grants you two free games.
All of the Radeon RX Vega 64 graphics cards will hit the market on 14th August while the Radeon RX Vega 56 is expected to be available on a later date.
