Mass Effect Andromeda PC: GTX 1060 will only hit 1080p 30FPS at High settings

Mass Effect Andromeda PC - GTX 1060 30FPS

It seems that Mass Effect: Andromeda is going to be quite demanding on PC. Nvidia recently released the Mass Effect Andromeda PC system requirements, revealing that the minimum specced PC powered by the GeForce GTX 660 may be stuck at 720p. Players would require GeForce GTX 1060 3GB, or GTX 970 to hit 1080p at High preset settings.

The spec requirements published by Nvidia, however, only mentioned the graphical presets and the resolution. Now, EA has published an interesting chart that also outlines the estimated FPS against the minimum and recommended system requirements for the game.

As per the chart, a GTX 660 coupled with an Intel Core i5-3570 or AMD FX 6350 will hit ~30FPS at 1280 x 720 on Low settings. Those sporting a GTX 1060 with an Intel Core i7-4790 or AMD FX 8350 will be able to achieve ~30FPS at 1080p on High settings. Amazingly, there’s no mention of 1080p 60FPS with the latest 1060 Pascal.

EA's Mass Effect Andromeda PC system requirements

If you want to run Mass Effect: Andromeda “at higher resolutions with higher framerates,” Nvidia recommends using a GTX 1070, GTX 1080, or the just released GTX 1080 Ti. In other words, you would need a GTX 1070 or above, to hit 1080p 60FPS at ultra settings in ME: Andromeda.

For playing Mass Effect: Andromeda on PC, here’s what BioWare and Electronic Arts recommend for Minimum settings at 1280×720, and High settings at 1920×1080:

Mass Effect Andromeda PC Minimum System Requirements For 1280×720

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-3570 or AMD FX 6350
  • GPU: GeForce GTX 660
  • RAM: 8GB
  • OS: Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 (64-bit versions)
  • HDD: 55GB free space
  • DirectX: Version 11

Mass Effect Andromeda PC Recommended System Requirements For 1920×1080

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-4790 or AMD FX 8350
  • GPU: GeForce GTX 1060 3GB, or GeForce GTX 970
  • RAM: 16GB OS: Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 (64-bit versions)
  • HDD: 55GB free space
  • DirectX: Version 11

If you wish to crank those 16 options to their maximum levels, or run at higher resolutions with higher framerates, you’ll want to equip your system with a faster GPU, such as the GeForce GTX 1070, GeForce GTX 1080, or newly-announced GeForce GTX 1080 Ti.

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is the world’s fastest enthusiast grade graphics card to date, which delivers the Titan X level of performance for the price of the original GTX 1080. The card promises to handle 4K graphical demands of AAA titles, but it remains to be seen if a game like Mass Effect Andromeda could run nice and smooth in 4K.

Exclusive to Origin, Mass Effect: Andromeda is set to launch on March 21 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
