Teaser: Asus ROG to reveal First-ever AMD Ryzen Laptop at Computex

Asus ROG Ryzen Laptop at Computex

Asus’ Republic of Gamers has just teased their upcoming Ryzen-powered laptop in a new video. This will also be the world’s first Ryzen laptop that we’re aware of, and will be revealed in a couple of weeks at Computex 2017.

The video shows Ryzen’s circular orange logo with an ROG-themed notebook sitting in front of it. The words “Something Has Awakened” can be seen at the bottom while video’s brief description includes the #Computex2017 hashtag.

The video doesn’t reveal much about the laptop, but one thing you can bet is that it won’t be cheap since Asus reserves ROG for premium gaming gear.

AMD has already promised that its Ryzen Mobile CPUs will launch in laptops in the third quarter. The CPUs will pack on-die Vega graphics core, offering a “phenomenal” gaming experience for notebook computers.

At their Financial Analyst Day yesterday, AMD claimed the Ryzen Mobile would offer 50% better CPU performance and 40% better GPU performance than its current generation. Not only this but the company also promised 50% less power usage versus APUs it offers today.

First-ever Ryzen Laptop - Ryzen Mobile performance

AMD also revealed that it has been working for months with top hardware partners to introduce new gaming systems which will include both ultraportables and two-in-one PCs.

The Sunnyvale based company hopes the Zen-based APUs will mark its return to the high-performance mobile sector. But, it’s not the only market AMD is planning to target this summer.

As detailed at FAD, AMD also has Ryzen Pro up its sleeve for the commercial PC market. The chips will roll out over the year and next, with performance on par with what Intel offers.
