Capcom Not Sure About Resident Evil 7 Xbox Scorpio Upgrades

No Resident Evil 7 Xbox Scorpio Upgrades

After ruling out their new horror game’s release on Switch, Capcom is not thinking about Resident Evil 7 Xbox Scorpio upgrades right now.

Resident Evil 7 Xbox Scorpio upgrades Not on Capcom’s Radar

Resident Evil 7 producer Masachika Kawata has already said that they have “no plans” for the game on Nintendo Switch at present. Apparently, Capcom didn’t shut that door entirely, but it seems that the Switch isn’t going to be a natural fit for ports of games like Resident Evil 7, which were built for hardware on par with Microsoft and Sony’s current generation consoles.

That was about a hybrid home console, but Capcom also isn’t sure whether the latest edition in the much-loved horror series will be given an Xbox Scorpio upgrade later this year.

When asked about the Resident Evil 7 Xbox Scorpio upgrades, Kawata and director Koshi Nakanishi told Express Online that it’s not something on their radar right now.

It’s the same with [Nintendo] Switch, really. Because it’s sort of not really out yet, it’s something we’ve got no particular comments or plans on that one.

Personally, I would be surprised if the game doesn’t receive any Xbox Scorpio optimizations, especially when a support was included for the rival PS4 Pro at launch.

Resident Evil 7 Consoles and PC Performance Analysis

In terms of performance, you probably won’t go wrong no matter which platform you choose for Resident Evil 7. According to an analysis by Digital Foundry, the visual experience of the game is “generally excellent across all platforms.”

Especially, the PlayStation 4 just “nails the experience” with a native 1080p presentation at a solid 60fps, while the PS4 Pro only gave a minor resolution boost.

The Xbox One release falls short of sustaining a locked 60fps, and while the experience isn’t quite as solid as the PS4, it’s still “excellent overall,” notes Digital Foundry.

On PC side of things, the game appears to favor Radeon graphics cards over Nvidia hardware. Tests show that the PC version of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard runs up to 22% faster on the Radeon RX 480 when compared to a similar PC build that uses a GeForce GTX 1060.

Currently, VR support is not available for PC, but it’s exclusive to PS VR allowing PS4 owners to play the entire game in virtual reality.

Resident Evil 7 marks a dramatic shift for the franchise from its traditional third-person perspective to a brand-new first-person viewpoint. The game’s Beginning Hour demo is now available for download for those who want to take a look at the first-person gameplay style.
