Project Cars 2 PS4 Pro will be 1440p Upscaled to 4K; Enhancements Detailed
Developers Slightly Mad Studios has detailed the Project Cars 2 PS4 Pro enhancements, revealing the game will run at a higher resolution compared to the base PS4.
There’s been a lot of debate regarding what resolution and graphical fidelity Project Cars 2 will run at. Slightly Mad Studios talked about the Xbox One X version of the game in a couple of interviews. Apparently, the game on Xbox One X will be running sub 60 FPS at 4K using checkerboard rendering.
We can expect the Project Cars 2 PS4 Pro to be featuring the same frame rates. The game studio will, however, be doing their utmost to hit 60 FPS on consoles over time. They have already stated that fame rates will be their main focus and that they will rather sacrifice the resolution or graphical fidelity to actually reach that mark.
We will obviously see how that plays out in the real life game scenarios, but it seems that the PS4 Pro version of the game will have its fair share of the graphical enhancements.
According to the studio head Ian Bell, Project Cars 2 PS4 Pro will render in 1440p (2.5K or 2560 X 1440), which is being upscaled to 4K. The game will presumably using the usual checkerboard techniques to upscale to 4K, though this has not been confirmed.

On top of that, the extra power of Pro will offer increased levels of detail throughout the whole game. This will include beefed up levels of detail on both cars and objects such as trackside grass. The detail of the shadows and reflections are also increased to mesh alongside the higher resolution.
It’s good to hear about the Project Cars 2 PS4 Pro enhancements, although the game will look even glossier on Xbox One X. The new motorsport racer is coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC on September 22.
