Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti unable to hit 4K@60fps in major AAA Titles

Nvidia marketed its next generation GeForce RTX 2080 Ti as a graphics card that can offer 4K@60fps on Ultra settings, however, that doesn’t seem to be the case in numerous games. The reviews of Nvidia’s RTX 2080 and 2080 Ti are finally out, and as it turns out, the flagship Turing card is unable to run some triple-A games with 60fps in 4K – at least for now.

Before we dive into benchmarks, I want to make it clear that this does not mean that the RTX 2080 Ti has failed to impress as a graphics solution. It really is a great gaming card, but we just wanted to focus on 4K/60fps, and that’s because the company advertised the GPU to deliver such an experience.

Let’s start with one of the most demanding games out there, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands. The Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti can run it with more than 60fps at 1080p and 1440p, but unable to hit the 60fps mark in 4K on Ultra settings. To be precise, you can expect an average of 46fps.

Next up, we have an older triple-A title, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Again, the game is unable to run with 60fps in 4K Ultra on Nvidia’s latest flagship GPU.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is another demanding game that 2080 Ti finds itself not powerful enough to run with 60fps in 4K.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is one of the latest DX12 games, and unfortunately, it was running with an average of only 37fps in 4K Ultra.

The brand new Turing card also fell short of the 60fps when running Monster Hunter World in 4K. The game was running at 49fps, though we’re not sure if the tester used the workaround that is said to supercharge performance on Nvidia’s hardware.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was a bit below the 60fps mark, but considering the game is set to support DLSS in the future, it will see a significant increase in performance.

Even with DLSS enabled, Final Fantasy XV couldn’t reach 4K@60fps on the RTX 2080 Ti.

In conclusion, the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti is a capable card but if you are aiming for 4K@60fps in AAA titles, it’s not there yet. You can hit the mark but with lower settings.

That being said, it’s still the perfect choice for 4K 60fps gaming at highest details. The Turing flagship is 38% faster than the GTX 1080 Ti on average at 4K, and about 2x faster than AMD’s fastest Vega 64.

What do you think of Nvidia’s RTX 2080 Ti? Do you think the performance justifies its $1,200 price tag?
