New Coffee Lake-S Budget CPUs and Chipsets to Launch on April 3: Report
Intel’s new Coffee Lake-S budget processors are expected to hit the market in April, but for the first time, we have a specific date for launch: the new CPUs and 300-series chipsets are set to go on sale on April 3, according to one of Japan-based retailers.
Release Date for New Coffee Lake-S Budget CPUs and 300-Series Motherboards Leaked
Since the launch of the first batch of Coffee Lake desktop processors in October 2017, Intel has been rumored to expand its portfolio with new CPUs targeting the mainstream PCs. According to recent reports, the company will launch at least eight new Coffee Lake-S chips, including three Core processors, namely the Core i5-8600, Core i5-8500 and Core i3-8300.
The new processors will be accompanied by a slew of motherboards based on Intel’s new cheaper 300-series chipsets. These will include the long-awaited H370, B360 and H310 series boards that will be a more suitable choice for pairing with Coffee Lake-S budget chips compared to the high-end and pretty expensive Z370 chipset.

It seems that Intel’s new 8th-gen desktop chips will be available right after Easter in April. The Japanese retailer Tsukumo claims that the new CPUs and chipsets will start selling from Tuesday, April 3. Sales will start at 16:01 in the country, which would be at 03:01 a.m. E.T.
The details mentioned coincide with previous Coffee Lake leaks and rumors. If these reports are to be believed, both upcoming Core i5 CPUs feature 6 cores and 6 threads. The Core i5-8600 has a base clock of 3.1GHz while the i5-8500 runs slightly slower at 3.0GHz.
The boost clocks are not revealed yet. In terms of pricing, the i5-8600 is expected to cost $217 US and i5-8500 will be priced at $199 US.
The Core i3-8300 is the cheapest of the three costing $134 US. It is a 4-core, 4-thread processor that is clocked at 3.7GHz. The Core i3 chip will not feature boost clocks but rather a more stable base clock speed.
