Intel Core i7-8700K and Other Coffee Lake CPUs Listed Online
Intel’s 8th Gen desktop processors, codenamed Coffee Lake, are expected launch early next month. But, with all the hype surrounding this Core lineup, online retailers have already started listing Coffee Lake CPUs up for pre-order.
Several China based e-tailers have listed Intel’s 8th Gen Core i7, Core i5 and Core i3 processors. The listings showcase specifications of the products though prices may vary from retailer to retailer. I would also like to mention that prices are not indicative of Intel’s final MSRPs which would be much lower.

Note that the clock frequencies mentioned above differ from those that come directly from Intel slides, so treat them with a pinch of salt. That being said, here are the expected specifications of the upcoming Coffee Lake CPUs.
Intel Core i7 Coffee Lake CPUs
The Core i7-8700K is the flagship processor of the lineup. It features 6 cores and 12 threads clocked at 3.8GHz base, 4.7GHz maximum Turbo and 4.3GHz all-core boost. It also features an unlocked multiplier to make overclocking easier.
Recent CPU-Z screenshot shows the top-end Coffee Lake chip scoring 4467.4 points which is around 5% more than AMD’s 8-core Ryzen 7 1700X. The chip is also expected to overclock as high as 5.0GHz on all 6 cores. You can read more about Core i7-8700K overclocking and benchmarks over here.
The i7-8700K will have a TDP of 95W. You can expect the chip to cost around $379.
The Core i7-8700 also features 6 cores and 12 threads, with 3.2GHz base clock, 4.6GHz max Turbo, and the same 4.3GHz all-core boost. The chip will have a TDP rating of 65W, and sell for $320.
Intel Core i5 Coffee Lake CPUs
Intel’s 8th Gen Core i5 chips also boast 6 cores but lack hyper-threading capabilities. The Core i5-8600K is another unlocked chip in the lineup which runs at 3.6GHz base, 4.3GHz max Turbo and 4.1GHz all-core boost. The chip is rated at 95W TDP, and will cost around $266.
The other 6-core, 6-thread chip, called the Core i5-8400, will be priced at $185. It has clock speeds of 2.8GHz base, 4.0GHz max Turbo and 3.8GHz all-core Turbo. The TDP rating of the chip is 65W.
Intel Core i3 Coffee Lake CPUs
We’ll have at least two Core i3 chips, both of which featuring 4 cores and 4 threads. The unlocked Core i3-8350K will have a 4.0GHz base clock speed and a TDP of 95W. The chip will cost $182.
The Core i3-8100 will have a lower clock speed of 3.6GHz, and will sell for only $118. The Core i3 parts won’t feature boost clocks but rather a more stable base clock speed.
Intel 8th Gen desktop chips will use the updated 14nm++ process node. The platform will also require a new Z370 motherboard to run. The launch is expected to take place in the first week of October.
