Initial AMD Ryzen Shipment Batch Expected to Top 1 Million Processors
AMD will start selling its new Ryzen 7 processors on 2nd of March. The release includes three models, the Ryzen 7 1800X, 1700X and 1700, priced at US$499, US$399 and US$329, respectively. According to a report from DigiTimes, the first AMD Ryzen shipment batch would entail over one million processors. That number would be based on the stock of all three Ryzen 7 models, the source claims.
If true, this suggests AMD is actually looking at a proper hard launch. One million Ryzen shipment batch will be a decent amount of processors to be available at launch. The proper volume of the product means there will be no inflated prices.

In addition to Ryzen 7 launch, motherboard players have also planned over 80 boards based on AMD’s brand-new AM4 platform. The board manufacturers are also expected to ship nearly one million units initially.
The AMD AM4 platform is based on the Promontory chipset which features five SKUs. These include X370 (enthusiast), B350 (mainstream), A320 (essential), X300 (enthusiast SFF) and A300 (essential SFF).
AMD Ryzen 7 Series CPUs Detailed – 8 Cores, 16 Threads, Up to 4GHz Boost Clock
All three Ryzen 7 CPUs feature 8 cores and 16 threads. The fastest CPU in the series is the AMD 7 1800X which operates at base clocks of 3.6GHz and boost clocks of 4.0GHz.
It sports L2 + L3 cache of 20 MB and a TDP of 95W. The processor is expected to deliver performance on par with Intel’s $1000 Core i7 6900K.
The other two Ryzen 7 processors have clock speeds ranging from 3.0 GHz up to 3.6 GHz and they also outperform the rival Intel chips by quite a margin.
