AMD Ryzen G Series Mobile APUs with Faster Vega 11 Graphics Leaked

A leak has surfaced online which suggests that AMD is readying to launch new Ryzen mobile processors featuring even faster integrated Vega graphics. The upcoming mobile APUs will be labeled as the Ryzen G series family and will sport up to 65W TDP.

New Ryzen G Series Mobile Processors with Vega 11 and Vega 8 Graphics Coming

AMD recently launched two Ryzen mobile processors, the Ryzen 7 2700U and Ryzen 5 2500U. They both fall under the “U” series family for ultra-low power mobile solution, designed to take on Intel’s similar Core U series chips. The new “G” series processors will be faster than the company’s current Ryzen offerings, so we guess the G label probably stands for “Gaming.”

The slides leaked by Informatica Cero list two Ryzen mobile variants, including the Ryzen 5 2400G and Ryzen 3 2200G. The Ryzen 5 2400G has 4 cores and 8 threads with the Vega 11 graphics on board. The GPU features 704 stream processors which is the highest ever integrated on a mobile APU by AMD.

The second chip Ryzen 3 2200G also comes with 4 cores, but doesn’t support SMT so you get only 4 threads. On the graphics side, it has Vega 8 with 512 stream processors. Both Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 3 “G” series processors will arrive in 65W and 35W variants.

As for Ryzen U series, leaked shots show that AMD is also working on a new Ryzen 3 2300U processor with Vega 6 graphics featuring 384 SPs in a 15W package. There is no mention of the core count, but we can expect it to be a quad core, non-threaded design, too.

Prices of the Ryzen G series based notebooks will definitely be higher than the U series models considering they offer better performance both in terms of CPU and GPU. AMD is expected to launch new Ryzen mobile parts as early as the next month ot two.
