AMD Ryzen 3 1200 Specs and Benchmarks Emerge Online

AMD Ryzen Refresh launch

A PassMark listing just surfaced which shows the average CPU Mark result of the Ryzen 3 1200. The listing includes data from two samples of the CPU revealing the specifications and performance relative to other CPUs.

Ryzen 3 1200 Specs and Performance Leaked

AMD is happily selling their Ryzen 7 high-end and Ryzen 5 mid-range desktop chips. The enthusiast Ryzen Threadripper line of processors is set to launch next month. That leaves just the Ryzen 3 entry-level chips to make their way to the market.

At this point, not much is known about the Ryzen 3, other than it will launch in the third quarter of 2017. With the launch just around the corner, it’s not surprising to see leaks popping up on the Internet.

According to the recent listing, the AMD Ryzen 3 1200 is a quad-core CPU running at 3.1GHz base and 3.4GHz boost clock speeds. The chip will have 8 MB of L3 cache and 2 MB of L2 cache, with a TDP rating of 65W. It will support the AMD B350 chipset.

Earlier rumors suggest that the Ryzen 3 lineup will lack AMD’s Simultaneous Multi-Threading (SMT) meaning the upcoming quad-core parts will feature only four threads. Still, the entry-level Ryzen should be powerful enough to rival Intel’s Core i3, Pentium and Celeron Kaby Lake lineup, and even thread into Core i5 Kaby Lake.

Speaking of performance, we have two entries as mentioned above, with the first scoring 6951 points and the other 7137 points. The chip achieves an average CPU Mark of 7043 which is impressive. It seems to be roughly on par with the Core i5-3570K, or even the Core i7-2600.

Of course, that’s an average of two samples which is not exactly a huge sample size or anything like that, but it does provide some inkling of the performance of these chips.

Furthermore, you can expect BIOSes to slightly improve the performance of these Ryzen 3 1200 chips. We don’t have an official price yet but the chips will be relatively cheaper – possibly around the $150 price point.
