AMD’s Gaming RX Vega: First Public Showcase set for July 18 in Budapest
AMD has announced that the first public showcase of its gaming RX Vega GPU will take place at Akvárium Klub in Budapest, Hungary, on July 18.
Gaming RX Vega to make Its First Appearance Next Week
As AMD noted, it will be transforming the Akvárium Klub, Budapest, into a PC gaming zone on the coming Tuesday between 2 to 7 PM. There will be exclusive rigs powered by Radeon RX Vega with today’s most popular games. Attendees will be able to test out the performance of these next-gen cards and see how well they feed the gaming quality.

AMD didn’t reveal the games that will be available for public to test, but you can expect the Team Red to showcase titles that favor its Radeon cards, such as DOOM, Battlefield 1, Quake Champions, and PREY.
Moreover, it’s not clear whether gamers will be able to use any FPS counters, or whether the demo systems will feature a single or dual RX Vega GPUs as in case of a previous showcase.
Following the Budapest event, the gaming RX Vega will make another public appearance at PDXLAN in Portland, USA, from July 21 to 23. Finally, AMD will launch the GPU at SIGGRAPH 2017, which takes place in Los Angeles between July 30 and August 3.
AMD RX Vega Codenames and BIOS Release Schedule
The Radeon RX Vega is rumored to launch in three different SKUs: Vega XTX, Vega XT and Vega XL. The Vega XTX will be the only one of the three to sport an AIO liquid cooling similar to the Frontier Edition.
Both Vega XTX and XT will feature 64 compute units, 4096 stream processors and 8GB of HBM2. The only difference lies in their power consumption. The Vega XTX will have a TDP of 375W while the other is rated at 285W.
The Vega XL will apparently be a custom only chip that will feature 56 compute units with an unknown amount of on-board memory.
The release schedule for custom RX Vega variants has already leaked on the web. Apparently, the working samples are ready as we speak, with the final BIOS scheduled to be sent to add-in-board partners (AIBs) by early August.
AMD hasn’t set a date for mass production yet, but you can expect it to be as early as mid-September.
