Metro Exodus on Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti with Ray Tracing [Gameplay Video]

Metro Exodus gameplay: Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti

A video has emerged online, courtesy of PCGamesHardware.de, showing Metro Exodus being played on the Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti with real-time ray tracing. This is an off-screen gameplay footage with no framerate overlay, but you can easily see that the new Turing-based card runs the game smoothly.

According to 4A Games’ rendering programmer Ben Archard, the studio is currently targeting 1080p at 60fps for Metro Exodus with Nvidia’s real-time ray tracing enabled. And, from the looks of the gameplay footage, it seems that 4A Games will likely hit the mark.

The gameplay is interesting in a way it gives us an idea of what we can expect from Nvidia’s next-generation flagship graphics card.

Earlier, we saw Battlefield 5 running with “rock solid” 60fps at 1080p with Nvidia’s real-time ray tracing effects. However, perhaps the most impressive game using RTX so far is Gaijin’s Enlisted, which managed to achieve over 90fps in 4K resolution.

Last week, Nvidia’s Director of Technical Marketing, Tom Petersen, revealed that the new RTX graphics cards will be roughly 35-45% faster than the same tier Pascal cards. You can expect a larger performance gap between the RTX 2080 Ti and GTX 1080 Ti in comparison to what cards can deliver thanks to a larger CUDA core delta between the two.

With greater performance, the pricing of the new RTX series has also increased substantially. The GeForce RTX 2080 Ti is priced at $999, while the other two cards – the RTX 2080 and RTX 2070 – cost $699 and $499, respectively. As expected, the Founder Editions are priced even higher at $1,199, $799 and $599, respectively.

Pre-orders are already available, but we would advise you to wait until independent reviews are out. The official benchmark numbers published by Nvidia didn’t seem to be transparent enough for people to make informed decisions. The RTX 2080 Ti and RTX 2080 are set to launch on September 20. The RTX 2070 will be available later in October.
