Nvidia RTX 2070 Specs and Price Leaked, 8% Faster than GTX 1080

Nvidia is set to launch their next-generation GeForce 20 series at Gamescom being held on August 20 in Cologne. The company has already unveiled their brand-new 12nm Turing GPU architecture, and since then, we’ve seen an avalanch of leaks detailing specifications of both GeForce RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti. Today, details of perhaps the most exciting GeForce 20 series graphics card — that is the RTX 2070 — have emerged online.

GeForce RTX 2070 Alleged Specs: 2304 CUDA Cores, 8GB GDDR6 Memory, and More

The specification of Nvidia’s RTX 2070 were claimed by two separate sources according to VideoCardz. If believed, the new card will feature 18 Turing SMs for a total of 2304 CUDA cores. It will pack 8GB of GDDR6 memory, rather than 7GB as was previously suggested.

Based on the above specs, the 2070 will likely feature a 256-bit bus interface for a total of 448GB/s of bandwidth, assuming the GDDR6 memory runs at 14Gbps.

In terms of frequency, the RTX 2070 will be running at the same clock speeds of Nvidia’s RTX Quadro series. You can expect around 1.7GHz base clock that would generate roughly 8 TFLOPs of single precision compute performance – which is nearly right around what the GTX 1080 is capable of.

It’s worth noting that improvements and optimizations made to Turing should help the RTX 2070 make more use of its TFLOPs than the Pascal-based 1080. The report claims the card will slightly outperform the GTX 1080 by roughly 8%.

The GeForce RTX 2070 is said to be available at an estimated suggested price of ~$400. Factor in the Turing’s alleged ability to hit 2GHz OC, the RTX 2070 could very well end up being a bargain GTX 1080 Ti. The 2070 is expected to launch in September, following the debut of the RTX 2080 and 2080 Ti on August 20.

Here’s the GeForce 20 series price and performance comparison, according to PC channel AdoredTV:

  • Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 – Price: $500-$700; 50% Faster Than 1080
  • Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 – Price: $300-$500; 40% Faster Than 1070
  • Nvidia GeForce GTX 2060 – Price: $200-$300; 27% Faster Than 1060
  • Nvidia GeForce GTX 2050 – Price: $100-$200, 50% Faster Than 1050 Ti
