Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 AotS benchmark Leaked – Matches TITAN V

Benchmarks of an “Nvidia Graphics Device” have leaked out from the Ashes of the Singularity database. The scores are one of the highest, if not the highest, even surpassing that of a GTX 1080 Ti suggesting we may be looking at the RTX 2080 AotS benchmark. The next-gen GeForce flagship will be based on the Turing GPU architecture and is expected to launch next week.

As it appears, the GPU is tested under the profile “nvgtltest007.” This sounds like a workstation name, which probably remained connected to the Internet and benchmarks leaked out. While it is easy to fake names, you can’t almost fake the benchmark scores, and that’s why I believe this leak is legitimate.

Nvidia RTX 2080 AotS benchmark

The mysterious Nvidia device is benchmarked while paired with a 3GHz Intel Core i7-5960X. Using Crazy settings at 4K resolution, the new GeForce card manages to squeeze around 63.5 frames per second on average. For reference, the last-gen GTX 1080 Ti scores between 40 and 59.5 fps in the Crazy 4K preset.

Indeed, the RTX 2080 AotS scores fall in the range of the TITAN V. In terms of compute power, the new Turing GPU unveiled by Nvidia recently, delivers 16 TFLOPs of FP32 performance compared to 15 TFLOPs of TITAN V.

The die shown on stage, though, was probably the GT102 whereas the RTX 2080 is going to feature the GT104 variant. The latter will have a reduced core count but it should make up in terms of clock speeds, provided all other metrics are kept constant.

That said, take those numbers with a grain of salt as we don’t know the exact system specs and methodologies used in the test. But if the benchmark is at least close to accurate, you can expect a solid increase in performance over the last generation.

It won’t be long until we know these details and more, including the specs, price and availability of the next GeForce graphics card. A recent teaser vid by Nvidia hints that the RTX 2080 launch will take place at the GeForce Gaming Celebration being held on August 20 in Cologne.
