AMD Raven Ridge 3DMark performance leaked, Vega 11 iGPU beats GT 1030

AMD Raven Ridge reviews - graphics performance

With just a couple of weeks left in launch, Raven Ridge 3DMark benchmarks have appeared on the web. The results showcase the first third-party graphics performance for AMD Ryzen desktop APUs featuring the powerful Vega 11 and Vega 8 GPUs.

AMD Raven Ridge 3DMark Benchmarks: Ryzen 5 2400G Taking on Discrete ‘eSports GPUs’

AMD Raven Ridge APUs are set to launch on February 12. Initially, the lineup will comprise of two processors, the Ryzen 5 2400G and the Ryzen 3 2200G. Both of the APUs will combine Zen CPU cores and Vega graphics on the same silicon and will run on the same socket AM4 platform as the previous Ryzen 1000-series family.

In addition, the new chips will offer higher CPU clock frequencies and improved precision boost technology. They will also feature updated memory controller to allow support for higher DRAM frequencies. We’ll discuss specifications in detail, but first let’s take a look at the leaked graphics performance of these chips.

Updated, Feb. 12, 2018: AMD Ryzen 5 2400G & Ryzen 3 2200G Raven Ridge Reviews Roundup

The Raven Ridge 3DMark 11 graphics results were posted over at MoePC.net. They show the Ryzen 5 2400G, with Vega 11 graphics core, offering pretty impressive level of performance.

The chip manages to outperform Nvidia’s entry-level GT 1030 discrete GPU while being on par with the Radeon RX 550. This should mean the 2400G will make a decent solution for budget gamers looking to play eSports titles.

The other Ryzen 3 2200G with Vega 8 integrated graphics is faster than the Vega 8 mobile variant featured on the Ryzen 5 2500U, thanks to its slightly faster clock speeds and higher TDP. The chips is placed slightly below the Nvidia MX150 mobile solution, which is quite a feat for a chip priced less than $100.

Leading the benchmark charts is the AMD RX Vega M GL which has been featured on Intel’s newest 8th Gen Kaby Lake G-series processors. This on-die Vega solution is so powerful that it even exceeds Nvidia’s $130 GTX 1050 discrete graphics card. You can learn more about the 8th Gen core processors with RX Vega M graphics here.

AMD Raven Ridge APU Specs and Pricing

AMD has already published specifications of their Raven Ridge desktop chips on dedicated product pages. According to listings, the Ryzen 5 2400G rocks a quad-core design with 8 threads. The APU runs at 3.6GHz base and 3.9GHz boost frequency.

Ryzen 5 2400G and Ryzen 3 2200G Spec

The on-die Vega GPU sports 11 compute units and 704 stream processors. The GPU is clocked at 1250MHz. The 2400G will cost $169 US at launch.

The Ryzen 3 2200G is a 4-core, 4-thread processor with 3.5GHz base and 3.7GHz boost clock. It only has 8 Vega compute units and 512 stream processors. The graphics chip is clocked at 1100MHz. The chip will be priced at just $99 US.

Both chips feature 6 MB of L3+L2 cache, with a configurable TDP of 45-65W. They will support dual-channel DDR4-2933 memory, which is a nice upgrade over the Ryzen family’s typical DDR4-2667 support.
