Smoking Xbox One X: So Lit that it could Catch Fire

Microsoft's Xbox One X fire issues

Touted as the world’s most power console, Microsoft’s long-awaited Xbox One X is finally here. The new device packs in a huge amount of raw processing power and graphics upgrades to drive smoother, better-looking, and sometimes native 4K games. Ironically, for some users, that tremendous power appears to be an affliction as reports of smoking Xbox One X emerge online.

Redmond has already experienced issues with Xbox power cords and power supplies back in 2005. At the time, the software giant recalled cords on 14.1 million Xbox game consoles worldwide following reports of overheating and causing fires. Could that be the case with its newest console entry?

A Reddit user ‘mysterion088’ has posted photo of their burned-out Xbox One X on the social media site. The user explained this happened after 3 hours of playing games on the console.

Smoking Xbox One X - Could have caught fire

To be clear I was playing when this happened. Just worried about a short.

By no means am I bashing on MS, I just wanted to share my story and see if this happened to anyone else. I love my Xbox One S, and the One X is amazing (too for) the 3 hours I got to play on it, lol

The affected user confirmed no one or nothing else was damaged as a result of this. Microsoft Support also acted professionally about the incident, making sure that “everyone was ok,” said the original poster.

Now, no matter how isolated such issues are, users will still be concerned and ask if there is any risk for this to happen on the larger scale. Microsoft hasn’t yet responded to the smoking Xbox One X claim so for the time being, we can only wait and see how this unfolds.

Apparently, this isn’t the only problem Microsoft’s new console has been suffering from; many gamers have also reported about their Xbox One X consoles being plagued by black screen issues. You can read more about these issue over here.
