Assassin’s Creed Origins 1.03 patch Lowers RX Vega performance

Assassin's Creed Origins 1.05 patch

The Assassin’s Creed Origins 1.03 patch is now live, and it includes several quest and gameplay fixes. The update also improves performance for Nvidia GeForce graphics cards but leaves AMD behind.

Early testing indicates Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti numbers jump up to 15% over what it offered initially. The performance of the Radeon RX Vega 64, on the other hand, stayed almost the same; in fact it dropped very slightly at some settings.

RX Vega 64 initial average framerates:

  • 1080p, Medium: 66.5 fps
  • 1080p, Ultra: 55.9 fps
  • 1440p, Ultra: 52.0 fps
  • 4K, Ultra: 34.7 fps

RX Vega 64 average framerates with 1.03 patch:

  • 1080p, Medium: 64.9
  • 1080p, Ultra: 55.3
  • 1440p, Ultra: 51.6
  • 4K, Ulta: 33.9

Note that these results are all based on early testing, so shouldn’t be taken as conclusive. But there are a number of users who have reported minimal to no performance gains at all. A few have also complained about crashes that have begun occurring since the game received the patch.

Hope that Ubisoft will be aware of the persisting issues and look into them for a fix. Meanwhile, below are the highlights of the new Assassin’s Creed Origins 1.03 patch:

The update resolves VRAM meter and various multi-monitor mode issues on PC. The cinematic transitions and some texture stretches are also improved, along with level of details in different locations.

On the gameplay side, the patch prevents sandstorms from appearing over water, as well as fixes various combat inconsistencies when picking up arrows and Sickle Swords. Moreover, you can parry as Aya now, and playable characters shouldn’t get stuck in odd stances such as overheat stance and haystacks.

A number of additions are also introduced to the UI, including a back button icon to locked menu pages, a completed activity panel to some locations, and many improvements to photo mode.

The patch weighs 1.3GB on UPlay, and 1.1GB on Steam. You can read the notes in full on the Ubisoft website.
