Intel Coffee Lake Core i7 Full Specs Leaked, 4 & 6-Core i5 SKUs Also Detailed
Intel Coffee Lake Core i7 specs have leaked out. The information comes straight from an Intel manifesto which reveals three mainstream processors, all of which having six cores and being compatible with the current LGA 1151 socket.
Three 6-core Coffee Lake CPUs Leaked – Flagship Core i7 8700K Clocks up to 4.3GHz
Intel Core i7-8700K is the flagship Coffee Lake chip featuring 6 cores and 12 threads. It runs at a base clock speed of 3.7GHz and boost clocks of 4.3GHz on a single core, 4.2GHz on dual core, and 4.0GHz in quad and hexa core modes. Additionally, the “IA (Intel Architecture) Overclock Capable” panel suggests the chip will feature an unlocked multiplier.
The i7-8700K also boasts dual channel memory clocked at 2400MHz. The chip comes with Intel Smart Cache of 12 MB at and a TDP rating of 95W.
Right now, we don’t know what the other two Coffee Lake chips will be called, but they are equally interesting. The faster of the two has a TDP rating of 95W and features a clock speed of 3.2GHz. It can boost up to 3.6GHz on single and dual core, and 3.4GHz on quad and hexa core.
The other is likely a T-Series chip with a TDP of only 65W. It runs at a core clock of 3.1GHz and boost clocks of 4.2 GHz (single core), 4.1 GHz (dual core) and 3.9 GHz (quad and hexa core). The rest of the specifications are identical to the Coffee Lake Core i7 part.
What’s more interesting is that the new chips will be backwards compatible with 200-series and even 100-series motherboards although they will launch alongside Intel’s brand-new Z370 chipset.
Intel’s 6-Core, 12-Thread Coffee Lake CPU-Z screenshot Leaked
An alleged CPU-Z screenshot of a Coffee Lake chip has also hit the web (via Xfastest). This particular chip also features 6 cores and 12 threads, but there is no mention of it in the leaked Intel manifesto which means it’s likely a different SKU.
The CPU-Z shows a TDP of 80W and a base clock of 3.5GHz which boosts up to 3.9GHz across all cores. We may be looking at an early engineering sample which may not necessarily represent the final product.
Intel Coffee Lake Core i7 and i5 Release Date, Full support for HyperThreading
The 8th Gen Coffee Lake S family will see the introduction the first 6 core mainstream processor from Intel. The processor lineup is expected to launch sometime in Q4 2017.
The release will include both 4-core and 6-core models with TDP ratings of 65 and 95 watts. More Coffee Lake-S chips will follow in early 2018, that will also add dual core parts to the lineup.
Coffee Lake will also bring full support for hyperthreading to Core i5 models for the very first time. The quad-core i5 chips will ship with 8 threads and 8 MB of L3 cache. The 6-core chips will also be part of the i5 lineup, but they will not feature hyperthreading support.
Intel Coffee Lake Core i7 and i5 will be based on the same architecture as the existing Kaby Lake chips, but will utilize an optimized 14nm++ FinFet process. The new chips will rival AMD’s Ryzen 5 series. You can find Coffee Lake 6-core Geekbench performance here.
