AMD’s 16-core Threadripper Cinebench results are Fake
A screenshot of the AMD Threadripper Cinebench results has been circulating the web for the past two days. Originally appeared at Reddit, the benchmarks showcase an alleged AMD 16-core CPU which is clocked at 3.6GHz and scores an impressive 3,083 points in the test.
Unfortunately, as it happens with most of the new hardware releases, the Threadripper Cinebench results are fake. How do we know?
The Cinebench contains a subfolder called cd_ranking, which contains all the CPU entries. You can select those entries for comparisons as a text file, as well as edit those to add whatever you want.
Furthermore, the poster of the Threadripper Cinebench claims to have “found” it, but the result being highlighted by orange suggests it was his own. Our friend at VideoCardz notes that the poster changed the color of the bar manually and the color he chose is simply wrong.
The fake Cinebench results are now deleted from the Reddit thread, but have spread on many websites, so be warned.

AMD officially unveiled the Zen based Threadripper last week, at its Financial Analyst Day. The company’s brand-new CPU lineup targets the high-end desktop market, offering up to 16 cores and 32 threads.
AMD’s HEDT platform is code named Whitehaven which includes support for quad-channel DDR4 memory and up to 44 PCIe lanes. It will compete directly with Intel’s upcoming X299 platform and Skylake-X CPUs with up to 12 cores.
On paper, Whitehaven has an edge over Intel X299 in a way it offers more cores, I/O, storage, and L3 Cache. A previous leaks reveals AMD Threadripper lineup will comprise of 16, 14, 12 and 10 core parts with clock speeds up to 4.1GHz. Take a look at the entire lineup over here.
AMD is set to launch Threadripper processors in less than a week at Computex, with availability scheduled for June.
