AMD Ryzen 7 1700X Performance Leaked – Surpasses Intel Core i7 6900K in 3DMark FireStrike

AMD Ryzen 7 1700X benchmarks

The AMD Ryzen benchmarks continue to leak out on the web. This time it’s Ryzen 7 1700X whose performance testing has leaked out from XFastest.com. The 1700X is an 8-core, 16-thread CPU (next to the flagship Ryzen 7 1800X) which outperforms Intel’s $1000 Core i7 5960X in leaked benchmarks, and even goes toe to toe with Core i7-6900K in some cases.

AMD Ryzen 7 1700X Benchmarks: On Par with Intel Core i7 6900K

First, we have Ryzen 7 1700X Cinebench R15 which features the CPU running at 3.5 GHz, though it’s not clear if XFR is running at this point.

Ryzen 7 1700X Cinebench

As you can see, the Ryzen 7 1700X Cinebench performance is pretty impressive with the CPU scoring around 1527 points. For comparison, Core i7 5960X scores 1318 cb and i7 6900K scores 1565 cb.

Moving to FireStrike Physics, the score would be relevant for most gamers since it provides a good estimation of the compute power harvest-able by a gaming application. Here, the Ryzen 7 1700X hits an incredible score of 17,916 points beating both Core i7 5960X (14,640 points) and Core i7 6900K (17,100 points).

The Ryzen 7 1700X 3DMark Physics scores are indeed huge which basically means that Intel’s HEDT levels of performance could finally be within reach of the mainstream segment soon. Gamers would be able to tap into similar performance for less than half the cost. In other words, Intel’s monopoly is going to be technically over.

AMD’s next-gen Ryzen processors are set to launch in early March. The lineup includes octa-core, hexa-core and quad-core CPUs. All models feature fully unlocked multipliers, making each model support overclocking right out of the box.

The Ryzen 7 is top-of-the-line 8-core, 16-thread series with at least three CPUs available initially. These include two 95W Black Editions, the 1800X and the 1700X, and a 65W 1700 chip.

The Black Edition models features AMD’s amazing new eXtended Frequency Range (XFR) technology. XFR allows Ryzen chips to achieve frequencies above and beyond default boost clock speeds depending on the cooling solution being used.

This means whenever a cooling solution better than AMD’s Wraith is available, your Ryzen chip will automatically detect it and overclock accordingly. AMD will pair Ryzen 7 chips with two Wraith cooler: the Wraith Max and Wraith Spire. Click here to read more about these brand-new fan types.
